BCID FAQ

What does Battery charger ID mean?

It is used with USB port to identify the charger scheme for Smartphone, MP3 or Tablet.


What's the output current of Battery charger ID?

Dialog Battery charger ID only provides the charger scheme when device is plugged into USB port, VBUS power still comes from the power switch or any 5 V source. Charging current limit will be based on the power switch or 5 V source ability. Dialog battery charger ID has one pin to both enable power switch and reset it.


What is the difference between SDP, CDP and DCP?

The simple explanation is below:

SDP: data communication and slow charging (charging current <500 mA).

CDP: data communication and faster charging (charging current >500 mA).

DCP: Faster charging only.


What is Smart-CDP?

Dialog Smart-CDP mode lets some of Smartphones that support SDP mode only, keep to data communication and charging when system works in CDP mode.
