Housing every system
The Smart Home is becoming a reality. We can now monitor and control our lighting, home security and heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) appliance all from our smartphones and tablets – even remotely via the cloud. This is possible thanks to networks of base stations, connected sensors and actuators all around the house.
The key to success in this Internet of Things world is autonomy: nodes must operate for years without having to change batteries. Thread is designed as a protocol for connecting and controlling products in smart homes. Thread’s approach to wireless networking offers numerous technological advantages, including a secure and reliable mesh network with no single point of failure, simple connectivity and low power. Thread networks are easy to set up and secure to use with banking-class encryption to close security holes that exist in other wireless protocols.

OpenThread Sandbox Development Kit
Dialog Semiconductor’s OpenThread Sandbox Development Kit is a complete plug & play hardware and software development kit to enable the open source Thread networking protocol.
The OpenThread Sandbox Development kit, based on Dialog’s new SmartBond SoC family for Smart Home and IoT applications, will enable developers to evaluate the OpenThread protocol stack as available on github.com/openthread. You now have the opportunity to contribute to the OpenThread development using actual Thread capable 802.15.4 silicon.
The OpenThread Sandbox Development Kit consists of a development board, software and documentation.
