For a Fresh Serial Flash chip erase is required?

Posted by swathik 15 points 3 replies

Dear Team,

We bought some samples of AT25FF161A from the Dialog Semiconductor. When we tried to read the FLASH without clearing we are getting some data. Is it a fresh FLASH required any erase operation before using it? will there be any chance of pre programmed area in the FLASH already.

We ship ALL Flash parts with the memory erased (all 0xFF). Would you let me know where these parts were purchased from and provide images of the reel labeling and top and bottom lettering and we can check that these are genuine Renesas Flash parts? Use my email ( if this includes any company confidential information.

During that samples time we communicated with 50 samples we order.

Hi Swathik,

Don't know who that is but it looks as if these parts were preprogrammed before you received them as we ship parts fully erased.

Let us know if you need any further info or support.
