Low-Noise PMICs

Driven by the increased sensitivity of image sensors and radio frontends, the wearable and portable electronics markets demand ultra-low-noise, small and efficient power solutions which Dialog offers through its optimized ultra-low-noise PMICs. These devices help system engineers to meet stringent noise budgets in conjunction with flexible multi-rail supply solutions and configurable power sequencing. DA9063 sequence multiiple PMICS

Hi, 
Is there DA9063 PMIC configurartion readily available for Xilinx Zynq Ultrascale+ 4EV devices. 

Based on my power/sequencing requirements, I seem to need at least two DA9063. 

1. Can several PMICS be sequenced between each other.
2. Can any of the 11 LDO's be combined in parallel as long as they are configured for the same slot and voltage?
3.  Besides (Buccore1 + Buckcore2), (BuckMem + BuckIO) can any other bucks be combined in parallel?
4. I have ordered blank 00 devices, do they have to be programmed before they are soldered to the boards?

Hello Bade,

1. Yes. You will need to make use of the GPIOs(including SYS_EN, PWR_EN, PWR1_EN) and the sequencer. The DA9063 also support I2C and SPI, this means you can use a SoC to make changes to the devices on the fly once active, however we need to ensure both devices address are different. 

2. Yes, that is possible. They will need to be enabled in the same seq slot and the same voltage.  Also be aware of power dissipation and thermals.

3. Only BuckCore1 + BuckCore2 and BuckMEM + BuckI/O.  What voltage and current do you need?  Do you need auto qual'ed parts? 

4. They can be programmed with a socketed EVK or ICP board:

The mother board for the EVK can be used as if it is a ICP board.

For auto qual'ed parts they will need to be supplied from the factory. 

We do not currently have a Xilinx Zynq Ultrascale+ 4EV OTP, however we can look into a power solution. Do you have a power tree?

Many thanks for confirming the sequencing between two DA9063 PMICs and also combining any LDO in parallel. Your response was really helpful. I am currently using this information to design a power architecture for a Xilinx Zynq Ultrascale+ EV MPSoC in line with Xilinx suggested powerup documentation. Once I am done, I will provide the power tree with all the necessary information if that's okay?

Does DIALOG provide services to check customer design for the PMIC as well as help with the OTP files due to device complexity and flexibility?
If yes, is there a secure/private means to send such information across e.g. schematics as this might contain confidential information?

Many thanks for responding. From your reply, does it imply that I can connect in parallel not only (BuckCore1 + BuckCore2) or (BuckMem + BuckIO) but any other two buck combinations in parallel?

In the case of parallel combinations. Can one use a higher current rated 1uH single inductor for the paralleled bucks instead of two?

Hello,

The DA9063 only supports BuckCore1 & BuckCore2 in duel phase mode(5A), and BuckMem & BuckIO in merged mode(3A).

Could you point me in the direction of the information that says all bucks could be used in duel phase mode and support 5A in that mode?
