27 April 2010

Latest Natalie DECT / CAT-iq software offers support for new CAT-iq 2.0 standard, accelerating time to market for next-generation home gateways and handsets

‘s-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands, 27 April 2010 - SiTel Semiconductor today announced the release of the latest version of its Natalie DECT / CAT-iq software supporting the CAT-iq 2.0 specification. Recently adopted as an industry standard, CAT-iq 2.0 ensures full interoperability between wireless devices from different vendors and meets all the key requirements of the Home Gateway Initiative (HGI).

The new release adds support for the CAT-iq 2.0 protocol alongside the DECT, DECT 6.0, KDECT and CAT-iq 1.0 support available in previous Natalie releases. By making CAT-iq 2.0-compliant development software available so promptly, SiTel is enabling manufacturers to bring innovative new internet access device (IAD) and handset applications to market quickly and easily.

"As a leading supplier of complete hardware / software solutions for cordless telephony, our goal is to help our customers get to market fast with outstanding products that will catch end-users imagination. Natalie reduces the development time and effort for all kinds of DECT applications. And by making a CAT-iq version available so soon after the standard was released and approved, we're ensuring our customers get a head start on their competition," says Oliver Maiwald, Product Marketing Manager at SiTel Semiconductor.

CAT-iq 2.0 is the next step in the evolution of DECT. It allows the well-known cordless telephony standard to be seamlessly integrated into broadband-IP networks, enabling exciting new wideband telephony and data-driven applications for the digital cordless phone market. Developed by the DECT Forum, the CAT-iq 2.0 specification was recently accepted by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) as an international standard (TS102841 V 0.0.35).
