Brief description of tasks:
Generate and verify layouts of mixed signal designs with state-of-the-art layout techniques
Key Responsibilities:
- Lay out mixed signal cells according to wafer fab design rules.
- Deliver high quality, manufacturable layouts that will lead to high expected yields once in volume production.
- Use state-of-the-art layout techniques for matching, ESD, latch-up prevention and parasitic reduction.
- Work with an awareness and understanding of the process from physical point of view.
- Support the trainee program of junior layout engineers.
- Mentor junior layout engineers
- Lead the layout phase of larger ICs.
- Suggest improvements to the overall layout capabilities of Dialog Semiconductor team.
Main Activities:
- While undertaking a Lead Layout function:
- Coordinate the layout team.
- Create mixed signal top level layout with support of automatic tools if needed.
- Drive the information exchange between team members.
- All Layout activities including top, cell and block level creation, edit and full verification.
- Estimation of layout timescales plus any subsequent re-estimations due to design changes.
- Continuous assessment and reporting of timescale risks.
- Involvement in new process setups.
- Attendance at all relevant project meetings.
- Maintain a layout workspace that is consistent with current working practice (directory structures, etc.)
- Floor planning and power routing concept and design.
- Instigation of peer reviews for critical and major layout blocks.
- Where possible, use schematic driven layout and always consider top level auto routing. Work in a way where cell re-use, and edit, is accessible to all team members.
- Ensure, that junior layout engineers are trained up and get the right support from design and layout colleagues.
Skills & qualifications required:
- at least 3 years experience in mixed signal layout
- experience in leading the layout phase of projects
- capable to coordinate a layout team
- good communication skills
